loch ness is not a dinosaur. Lakes are called loches in that part of the world. Thus, loch Ness is lake ness, or a large body of fresh water named Ness

Over the years, people have speculated that Nessie is a dinosaur, a plesiosaur, a primitive whale, a seal, an otter, a sturgeon, an eel, a kelpie, a water horse, a spirit, a hallucination, a delusion, a standing wave, a log, a hoax, an hysteria, a lie, and an honest mistake.
Take your pick.
I like kelpie/spirit/hoax myself.

And by the way, Loch Ness was only formed after the last glaciation, so there's no way dinosaurs or any other Mesozoic beasts could have taken refuge there.

if you are speaking of Nessie, who is a monster that allegedly lives in Loch Ness, there is a theory that it is a plesiosaur which obviously is extinct

I like to think so... but even whales freak me out, their immense size and all... I'd be so freaked out if dinosaurs just walked around again
