Fact is that most colognes and perfumes are just mixtures of a few synthetic or barely natural chemicals dissolved in alcohol and water. This is whether they are actually genuine of whatever brand or fake. The only difference is that every bottle of genuine smells the same, the fake stuff probably varies a bit from batch to batch. Also the fake stuff might not have quite so much of the fixatives that stop perfumes from wafting away quickly.
The chemicals cost the same, what you pay for when you buy genuine is the name. If the stuff smells good, buy it.
Making cosmetics is easy and pretty cheap, most of the components are pumped out of chemical factories by the tonne. The expensive part is the packaging and the advertising.
